About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Spare Parts Interpreter to manage customer enquiries, prepare accurate parts quotations, and support the efficient processing of spare parts requests. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical information, and effective coordination with internal teams and suppliers to deliver timely and competitive quoting solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Review and manage incoming trade customer enquiries received through the online quoting portal, ensuring timely and accurate responses. Analyse customer-provided information, including photos, part descriptions, and VIN details, to accurately identify required panel and mechanical parts. Prepare and submit competitive and accurate quotations, ensuring correct part numbers, pricing, and product recommendations. Upload, update, and maintain enquiry information within the quoting portal, meeting all service level agreements and submission deadlines. Collaborate with internal Parts Departments and suppliers through designated systems to verify part availability, pricing, lead times, and alternative solutions. Monitor and manage enquiry progress from initial submission through to outcome, recording successful and unsuccessful quotes and maintaining accurate records. Generate reports and provide insights on quoting activity, conversion rates, customer trends, and opportunities for improvement. Maintain current knowledge of parts catalogues, supplier platforms, pricing structures, and industry best practices to ensure high-quality quoting outcomes. Support the Spare Parts Team with administrative functions related to quotations, order processing, data management, and customer communications. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance quoting accuracy, turnaround times, and overall customer experience.
Essential Skills
Strong knowledge of vehicle panels and mechanical components. High attention to detail with strong accuracy in interpreting and entering data. Ability to meet strict deadlines and work in a highly competitive quoting environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong written communication skills (English).
Desirable Skills
Familiarity with dealer management systems (DMS), ERP platforms, or automotive quoting software.
Essential Experience
2 – 3 years of experience as a Spare Parts Interpreter, preferably within a dealership, automotive supplier, or trade environment. Experience working with parts catalogues, supplier portals, or quoting systems.
Desirable Experience
Prior experience in a high-volume trade or fleet spare parts environment. Experience supporting Australian, UK, or global automotive markets.
Qualifications (Essential)
Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Engineering, or any related field.
